ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Dr. Anise Tatiana Wheeler
Welcome to my practice! I’m glad you’re considering taking this step toward better health. I understand that seeking help can be a big decision, and I’m here to provide a supportive and compassionate environment. My desire is to make you feel comfortable and empower you on your journey to wellness.
I am a nurse practitioner with a doctorate and dual certifications in psychiatry and family medicine. I also hold a Master’s degree in Health Care Management from Johns Hopkins University and have a certification in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) from Duke University School of Medicine. I've worked at several well-known hospitals and currently serve in a local healthcare system.
My journey toward integrative and functional medicine began because of my own stress-related health struggles—spending money on tests that insurance didn’t cover and frequently being told that everything was fine while I felt unwell. I knew my gastrointestinal issues were real, so I sought out my own healing, which led me to discover integrative and functional medicine.
Over the years, I've completed various programs in integrative medicine, functional medicine, pain coaching, and functional nutrition. My goal is to help my clients achieve their best health—mind, body, and spirit—using personalized, evidence-based holistic approaches. I specialize in managing depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, insomnia, and chronic pain conditions like fibromyalgia, migraines, and pain-related cognitive issues.
I mainly work with adults, and I don’t compete with your primary care physician or other specialists; instead, I collaborate with them to help you reach your health goals. I also collaborate with Dr. Kristel Carrington, MD. I’m in-network with some insurance companies for traditional mental health care and provide super bills for out-of-network patients to help them get reimbursed by their insurance. Since integrative psychiatric care, pain coaching, and functional psychiatric care aren’t usually covered by insurance, I only accept cash, debit, or credit cards for modalities outside of conventional mental health care.
