Plan #2: Integrative/Functional Psychiatric Assessment & Treatment
Goal:
The Integrative/Functional Psychiatric Assessment & Treatment Plan builds upon the Essential Plan by offering a more comprehensive approach to mental and emotional health. The goal is to relieve your symptoms, enhance your quality of life, and optimize your mental and emotional well-being through a combination of carefully selected medication (when necessary), solution-focused psychotherapy, and holistic/functional medicine approaches.
This Plan is Suitable for You If:
- You have a complex medical and/or psychiatric history.
- You are interested in reducing medication use and exploring all available holistic approaches.
- You have tried "traditional" psychiatric treatments without success.
- You have tried multiple psychiatric medications without success, or you tend to be very sensitive to medications.
- Your psychiatric diagnosis is unclear, you have multiple diagnoses, or you believe you have not been accurately diagnosed in the past.
- You suffer from chronic medical issues, such as chronic fatigue, hormone imbalances, gut issues, autoimmune or inflammatory conditions, etc.
- You prefer to focus on holistic treatments but are open to the careful use of psychiatric medications if appropriate.
Included in the Plan:
- A comprehensive pre-session questionnaire to evaluate your psychiatric history, medical history, lifestyle habits, and treatment goals.
- Additional pre-session questionnaires to assess symptoms related to inflammation, thyroid dysfunction, adrenal dysfunction, and GI/gut issues, which are common contributors to psychiatric symptoms.
- A 2-hour initial consultation.
- Follow-up appointments as needed (25 or 50 minutes).
- Review of past medical records and lab work, if applicable.
- Ordering and interpretation of follow-up labs, including both basic lab tests (performed at Quest) and advanced functional testing.
- Treatment options that may include medication management, psychotherapy, and a functional psychiatric assessment and treatment approach.
- Development of a personalized supplement plan based on the results of functional lab testing.
- Review and optimization of any current supplements being taken.
